Tullow, Co. Carlow is an expanding market town, which lies circa 48 miles due south of Dublin City close to the Wicklow border. The town has a large agricultural inter land which covers Co. Carlow and West Wicklow. The town itself has witnessed significant growth over the past number of years with a number of successful housing developments and is now increasingly becoming a commuter town for the Dublin & North Kildare areas. The towns north of Tullow including Rathvilly, Baltinglass, Castledermot has also witnessed significant growth over the past number of years.
Tullow is serviced by roads from the N81 through Blessington & Baltinglass and the N80 through Naas and Castledermot. The proposed new motorway the M9, which is due for completion in 2008, will be an important development for the Tullow and Carlow area and should ensure further growth and prosperity of the area.
Mt. Wolseley Golf and Country Club, which lies on the outskirts of Tullow town, has also been an important addition to the area. The complex, which is set to become one of the largest leisure recreational resorts in the southeast, has without doubt raised the profile of the area and has brought many new businesses to the town.
As Tullow is located in the middle of the sunny southeast tourism has become a more important element of local economy in recent years.
